More Soccer Tragedy
Sep 11 was The day when the terrorists flew planes into New York and brought down the big buildings 3 years ago. Today, I was heading out to do my part in fighting the war against terrorism. I was going to do it and nobody was going to stop me. Not bad weather and not a sleepy atmosphere could stop me from playing soccer against Moses Lake. Ack, who was I kidding…I wanted to sleep in and not wake up at 9 on Saturday morning, but I did so anyways. It was my “calling.” When I arrived at the field, there were about three people there putting up nets and getting the field ready for the game…and I thought I was late when I arrived ten minutes late. So I go and help out until around 10:30 when Moses Lake arrives. We have to warmup and we have how many players? At this point, we only had about ten people. Ten people on a soccer field when the intended number is eleven…bad! Well, luckily the rest of the team showed up five minutes later and got a little talk from the coach. The question I ask is why show up at all if you’re going to show up late? I mean, they were setting up a bad example for the younger members of the team.
Game began and we got royally creamed. Two goals were made by the same player using the same technique within two minutes…BAD! They scored a couple more on us and we couldn’t (or just didn’t want to) do anything about it. The game finished at 4-0, winner being Moses Lake.
I just have a feeling that we might not be doing as well as we had hoped. It’ll be a miracle if we make it to state. Hey, I got an idea! How about I pray for a miracle!
