Rants, ravings, and the occasional intellectual debate on technology from the perspective of a college student. Or not. It's my website, I do stuff to it that I find interesting.

It sounds like you're creating problems yourself by trying to solve this issue instead of looking at why their is a problem in the first place.

Yeah, it's my custom made one (built from scratch...and into something barely better than scratch haha). I named it "simplistic matters" because it is simplistic and I was too lazy to work on it further.

I have the Toshiba-Samsung TS-H943 ms25, so it is one of the older ones. But the thing I hear about the BenQ is that once flashed, it can't really read burned games as well as the Toshiba-Samsung one can (from browsing through the xbox-scene forums, specifically with the higher end games like GTA and COD4). My friend has the Hitachi version of the drive and his will do the same scratching fiasco as well (not sure which model he has though, specifically).

From my point of view, all the Xbox 360 hardware is crap that ends up breaking down at some point. I have yet to have my system RRoD, even after I bought it refurbed a couple of years back, so I'm above luck for that apparently, but the disc scratching is somewhat unacceptable for a system. Personally, I stick with PC gaming now.

You do realize that the backside of the the disc says DVDR+ right? cough...

Just kidding, what drive do you have because the BenQ drives seem less likely to show the disc crunch problem.

if a system does that, wash your hands of it. no properly designed system would scratch your discs.
